Believe in Jesus Christ
The Bible makes it clear that salvation begins with faith in Jesus. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9, NIV). Belief in Jesus’ identity as Son of God and His resurrection is essential for salvation.
Repent of Sin
Salvation involves turning away from sin and turning toward God. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” (Acts 3:19, NIV). Repentance is an acknowledgment of wrongdoing and a commitment to live according to God’s will.
Confess Jesus as Lord
Salvation also requires confession of faith. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9–10, NIV). Confession publicly acknowledges our faith and submission to Christ’s authority.
Call on the Name of the Lord
Jesus offers salvation to everyone who calls on Him. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13, NIV). Calling on the Lord is an act of dependence and trust, asking Him to forgive, save, and transform our lives.
Receive God’s Gift of Salvation
Salvation is a gift, not something earned by works. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8, NIV). To be saved is to accept God’s free gift and enter into a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
Living in Salvation
Once a person is saved, they are called to live in obedience and grow in faith. “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12, NIV). Salvation is both a one-time gift and the beginning of a lifelong journey with Christ.
