The Power of the Cross

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:18 — “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Reflection

The cross stands at the center of our faith — a symbol of suffering to the world, but a source of power to the believer. Through the cross, sin was defeated, and grace triumphed. What looked like the end was actually the beginning of redemption for all who believe.

When Jesus declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30), every chain of condemnation was broken. The power of the cross is the power of forgiveness, freedom, and reconciliation. It transforms shame into strength and death into life. Because of the cross, we no longer live as slaves to sin but as sons and daughters of God.

The cross calls us not only to receive grace but to live transformed by it. It teaches us humility, love, and surrender. Every time we remember the cross, we remember our victory — not by our works, but by His finished work. There is no greater power than the love displayed on that hill outside Jerusalem.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the cross — for the sacrifice of Jesus that brought me freedom and forgiveness. I stand in awe of Your love and mercy poured out through Him.

Lord, help me to live in the victory of the cross daily. When guilt or fear tries to return, remind me that it is finished. Let the power of Your grace shape how I think, love, and serve.

May my life be a testimony to the redemption I’ve received. I will glory in the cross and trust in its power to save, heal, and restore. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of new life in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
