Scripture Reading
“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” (Nahum 1:7, NIV)
God’s Standard of Goodness
Goodness flows from God’s character. He alone is truly good (Mark 10:18), and as His children, we are called to reflect that goodness. This means more than being morally upright; it’s about living in a way that honors God and blesses others.
Goodness in Action
Goodness is revealed in choices that align with God’s will. It’s choosing honesty over deceit, generosity over greed, purity over compromise, and justice over favoritism. Goodness is not passive—it actively resists evil and pursues righteousness.
Goodness That Impacts Others
Paul reminds us in Galatians 6:9 to “not grow weary in doing good.” Even when acts of goodness seem unnoticed, God sees them and uses them to bring light into the world. A life marked by goodness points people back to the goodness of God Himself.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are good and Your mercy endures forever. Shape my heart to reflect Your goodness in everything I do. Give me the courage to stand for what is right and the willingness to bless others through acts of goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
